Havens & Harbours:
Sandy Haven to St. Davids
Self-guided linear route
7 Nights
Variety of routes from 32m/51.2km to 47m/75.2km

The tidal estuary of Sandy Haven is the starting point for this section of the coast path that features rocky outcrops, stunning views of the coastal islands of Skokholm and Skomer – renowned for their seabird populations – and beaches that range from the calm to the wild and windswept. The untamed promontory at St Anne’s Head is buffeted by some of the highest wind speeds, and strongest tides in Britain, and offers spectacular, if invigorating, walking.

The route continues past the broad expanse of Marloes Sands, best known for its stunning striped cliffs of grey, gold, red and purple, before turning north along St Brides Bay. Passing through the pretty village of Little Haven, and neighbouring Broad Haven, the trail continues beyond the wide, windswept beach at Newgale – a favourite with watersports enthusiasts. Northward the route rises abruptly, and the landscape changes as you head towards the charming fishing village of Solva, before reaching trail’s end at St Davids, the smallest city in Great Britain, with its Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace.
